SYM 2025
Scottish Young Musicians reached a significant milestone by achieving national coverage, with students from every local authority participating. Thousands of young students now take part in our activities throughout the year as part of hundreds of local competitions that made up the festival. We are proud to say that SYM is now Scotland’s largest music education charity, yet we recognise there is still more work to be done to benefit Scotland’s young people.
SYM 2024
Scottish Young Musicians finished its 3rd year with a flourish, becoming even more established within Scotland’s school and music community. Following hundreds of competitions nationwide, involving thousands of participants, the talent showcased at this year’s national final was inspirational, highlighting our young musicians’ impressive diversity and dedication.
SYM 2023
If 2022 was the year of getting SYM started, then 2023 was the year that it became truly established at the centre of the world of music in Scotland’s schools. In only 2 years, SYM has become the largest and most important national music competition in schools, taking last year’s winner on a journey from Stirling to play at No.10 Downing Street.
SYM 2022
The aim of Scottish Young Musicians is to offer every school student, who plays a musical instrument or sings, a platform to compete against like-minded students to achieve their musical ambitions, develop their life-skills and have fun.
